International law firm CMS has announced the appointment of energy and renewables specialist Chris McGarvey as a partner in Glasgow. Mr McGarvey arrives from Pinsent Masons and will join CMS on 1 May.

Laura McIntosh has joined CMS as a partner after 12 years at Dickson Minto. Ms McIntosh, who is based in CMS’s Edinburgh office, specialises in mergers & acquisitions and private equity deals.

CMS has advised SSE on the sale of a 49.9 per cent stake in its Stronelairg and Dunmaglass wind farms to Greencoat UK Wind Plc in partnership with a major UK pension fund whose investment is managed by Greencoat Capital. The stakes equate to 160.6MW (megawatts) of capacity and the total consideratio
