Portrait of a Criminal: Val McDermid to discuss new novel at Edinburgh Book Festival

Val McDermid

Author Val McDermid is set to appear at the Edinburgh Book Festival tomorrow evening to discuss her new book, Still Life.

The extremely popular festival has gone online this year in order to adapt to the coronavirus pandemic – and all events are free.

With Val McDermid’s iconic detective soon set to hit our screens, it couldn’t be a more perfect time to revisit Police Scotland’s Historic Cases Unit and the savvy, no-nonsense DCI Karen Pirie.

A thrilling new head-scratcher from the undisputed ‘Queen of Crime’, Still Life sees much-loved detective chief inspector Karen Pirie confronted by a decade-old cold case, drawing her into a historical cover-up that someone would do anything to keep under wraps.

Catch the author tomorrow in live conversation with Dame Joan Bakewell at The New York Times Main Theatre Online. Book your place here.
