Lindsays is extending its support for grassroots athletics across Scotland.

The firm’s partnership with scottishathletics is already one of the longest-running sponsorship agreements in Scottish sport.

Since launching in 2014, it has concentrated on cross country, with the Lindsays Cross Country Season the key event for athletics clubs and individual runners nationally.

But it is now being expanded to seven Scottish National Championship events in road racing, to be branded as the Lindsays Road Race Series. The extended sponsorship of both series will run until 2029.

Ian Beattie, Lindsays’ chief operating officer, said: “We are excited to not just extend our relationship with scottishathletics, but to expand it.

“Given the longevity of our sponsorship of the Lindsays Cross Country Season, we are proud to see the way it has grown and the way in which clubs and individual runners enjoy and engage with it.

“That success makes it a natural step for us to get behind the road racing events as well, hopefully ensuring there is a pathway for even more people to share the camaraderie and competition of being part of Scotland’s running community.”

The profile of the Lindsays Cross Country season is strong, with scottishathletics reporting 3.1 million views of its content last year, with #LindsaysXC is now a recogniseable brand within the national club community.

The new Lindsays Road Race Series will feature events across five distances – like the 5K at Silverknowes – and there will also be support for the Lindsays Young Athletes Road Races and Lindsays National Road Relays (both usually in March).

scottishathletics will generate content under the #LindsaysRoad hashtag and banner and will urge athletes and clubs to support these championship events in large numbers.

Colin Hutchison, chief executive of scottishathletics, said: “I am absolutely delighted to confirm this superb sponsorship support from Lindsays.

“It has now been a long-standing agreement for cross country and I think everyone will have noticed the growth in profile of our big events there.

“But now the partnership will evolve even more with a series of Scottish Road Race Championships coming under the Lindsays brand and banner.”
