City of Glasgow College wins Sheriff Principal's Mooting Competition 2026

City of Glasgow College has beaten Glasgow University to win the 2026 Sheriff Principal’s Mooting Competition at the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow (RFPG).

Sheriff Tony Kelly oversaw proceedings and offered guidance and words of encouragement to both sides. He noted that the level of advocacy and submission from both sides was “outstanding”, with the “pace, delivery and engagement with the judge” a real highlight. The students’ “ability to deal with interruptions from the bench” was also highly commended.

After careful deliberation, Sheriff Kelly noted how difficult it was to pick a winner, but ultimately felt that City of Glasgow College had edged it and were crowned worthy winners.

The RFPG congratulated Sophie Oag and Sheldon Mills (City of Glasgow College) as well as Harry Braid and Katie Ronnie (University of Glasgow) for all of their hard work and professionalism throughout the competition.
