Addleshaw Goddard has completed its move to a statement office in the centre of Edinburgh.

The firm has taken almost 30,000 sq ft in one of the best locations in the city at 24 St Andrew Square, following a complete refurbishment which has maintained the building’s classical façade while providing modern, open plan efficient offices.

Addleshaw Goddard will occupy four floors, including a new fourth floor and roof terrace overlooking the square, representing a 60 per cent increase on its former space at Exchange Tower on Canning Street.

The move comes just weeks after the firm announced it would this year become the first official legal supporter of the Genesis Scottish Open golf tournament, and just four months since it moved to a landmark new home on Glasgow’s St Vincent Street, where it almost doubled its footprint.

The Edinburgh move builds on sustained growth across the firm’s Scottish operations, with Addleshaw Goddard recording nine consecutive years of double digit growth in Scotland and employing more than 300 people across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

Addleshaw Goddard has a global footprint of 21 offices turning over £550.9 million in its last reported financial year. Domestic growth has come against a backdrop of rapid international expansion including nine new offices in the past four years: Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Luxembourg, Dublin, Madrid, Saudi Arabia, Warsaw and Abu Dhabi.

Alan Shanks, head of Scotland at Addleshaw Goddard, said: “Our goal is clear, to cement our position as one of the leading legal practice in Scotland, and we are making significant investments across the country to reinforce that. Edinburgh is one of the UK’s most important commercial and professional services centres and moving into a new office in the heart of the city reflects both the strength of our practice here and our long term commitment to the Scottish market. The city’s depth in financial services, asset management, technology and high growth businesses continues to create significant opportunities for our clients and our firm.

“Our Edinburgh team has gone from strength to strength, working with leading organisations in Scotland and beyond. Providing a modern, high quality working environment is central to supporting that growth - enabling our people to collaborate more effectively with each other and with clients, while reinforcing our ability to attract and retain top talent in an increasingly competitive market.

“Our continued focus on innovation, technology and efficiency, alongside the strength of our lawyers, means we are well placed to support clients navigating change and delivering ambitious growth plans from Scotland, across the UK and internationally.”
