Immigration Solicitor – NQ/PQE1
Full time – Mon to Fri, 9am to 5pm, 35 hours per week

The opportunity
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an Immigration Solicitor (NQ–1 PQE) to join our dynamic and growing Employment/Immigration Team. Working directly with our Immigration Partner, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality advice to a mix of individual and business clients across a wide range of UK immigration, nationality, and citizenship matters.
This is an excellent role for a solicitor who enjoys variety, is passionate about immigration law, and is motivated by supporting clients through complex and often life‑changing processes. You will gain early responsibility, strong support, and exposure to both personal and business immigration matters.
The role
You will manage a diverse and engaging caseload, including:
Personal Immigration Work
• Provision of expert legal advice to individuals and families during applications for UK visas, settlement, and British citizenship.
• Managing a wide range of visa routes including Partner visas, Skilled Worker visas, Global Talent, and other visa categories.
• Review and prepare immigration applications to ensure they comply with current UK Immigration Law and relevant Home Office guidelines.
• Maintain and update client case files, ensuring all correspondence and documents are correctly filed and managed.
• Liaise with clients to gather the relevant documentation and information required for the visa application submission, provide updates on case progress, and answer queries.
• Draft cover letters and prepare supporting documents to be submitted to the Home Office.
Business Immigration Work
• Advising businesses on right to work checks, compliance duties, and risk management.
• Supporting companies with Sponsor Licence applications, renewals, and licence management.
• Assisting HR teams and managers with SMS reporting, compliance obligations, and audit preparation.
• Providing practical advice on recruitment of migrant workers and navigating the sponsorship framework.
• Helping skilled worker applicants and sponsors throughout the visa and onboarding process.
• Responding to employer queries regarding changes to the Immigration Rules, compliance issues, and ongoing workforce management.
Additional Responsibilities
• Keeping up to date with changes in immigration law, policy, and Home Office processes.
• Generate satisfactory level of fee income in accordance with set fee income targets, record all time promptly.
• Preparing application packages for review by the supervising solicitor.
• Booking client appointments with commercial partners (TLScontact, and VFS Global) and ensuring relevant documentation is uploaded before biometric appointments.
• You will work alongside an Immigration Caseworker who provides support with document preparation, client liaison, and case management processes, ensuring an efficient workflow and high‑quality service delivery.
Key Requirements/Skills
• Experience or strong interest in UK Immigration Law and/or Nationality Law.
• Experience with Home Office systems and processes and dealing with the Home Office third party providers (TLScontact and VFS Global) is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with clients in a friendly and confident manner.
• Experience in case management and handling client files efficiently.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
• A genuine interest in and passion for working with people, providing a high standard of client care and support throughout the immigration process.
• Commitment to delivering excellent client care with a focus on understanding and responding to client needs with empathy and professionalism.
• Excellent technological skills, including proficiency with case management systems, document management software, and general office technology.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to provide a high-quality service to clients and support the department’s goals.
This role will initially be fully office based however, after a period, flexible WFH/hybrid arrangements will be considered.
