We are looking for talented lawyers to join our team at a range of levels.

We are interested in hearing from family solicitors, as well as experienced litigators with a broader litigation background who are looking to develop a career in family law.

The firm

Family Law Matters Scotland LLP is a specialist, award-winning family law firm with the aim of making a positive difference to individuals going through the challenges of relationship breakdown. We were recently recognised as Family Law Team of the Year at the 2026 Scottish Legal Awards.

We focus exclusively on family law, with particular expertise in international family and child law. We advise clients navigating Scots family law both in Scotland and from elsewhere in the UK and overseas, and work closely with lawyers in other jurisdictions where matters cross borders.

Our team includes Solicitors accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as specialists in family law and child law, supported by experienced colleagues who share our commitment to our clients and the quality of our work.

We are a close-knit team and have built our reputation on specialist knowledge, high standards and strong relationships with our clients and professional contacts.

The role(s)

This is an opportunity to join a specialist family law team working on complex child-related and high-value litigation in sheriff courts across Scotland and the Court of Session. You will also have the opportunity to work across a range of dispute resolution models and non-contentious matters.

Our cases often have an international dimension, and you will work with a network of family and commercial counsel, corporate and private client lawyers, forensic and tax accountants, actuaries, family offices and reputation managers in Scotland and internationally.

The role calls for strong technical legal skills, but also judgement, strategic thinking and an ability to understand what matters to each client. You will often be the person bringing together the legal and wider professional advice needed to find a sensible and effective way forward.

There is also the opportunity, for the right person, to contribute to firm management and business development while developing your own practice and profile.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a dispute resolution lawyer with experience of both negotiation and litigation, who is confident working directly with clients.

A family law background is not essential. We are open to lawyers from other areas of dispute resolution who have the right skills and are interested in developing a career in family law.

You will be intellectually curious, adaptable and comfortable dealing with complex and sometimes legally novel work. You will enjoy being part of a small team, be willing to support your colleagues and take pride in the quality of your work.

You will also be comfortable taking responsibility for client relationships. Our clients are often dealing with difficult and highly personal circumstances, so judgement, discretion, empathy and sensitivity are essential.
