Strathclyde to become first Scottish host of LawWithoutWalls

Strathclyde Law School is to become the first Scottish host of LawWithoutWalls (LWOW), with the international legal innovation programme coming to Glasgow in March 2027.

LWOW is a global initiative that annually brings together lawyers, in-house professionals, business leaders, academics and students to develop new approaches to challenges at the intersection of law and business.

The 2027 event will see hundreds of delegates come to Strathclyde, providing an opportunity for the Scottish commercial legal community to engage with a diverse international network.

The developing association between LWOW and Scotland was emphasised last week at a round-table event hosted by Pinsent Masons in Glasgow. Representatives from leading commercial law firms and in-house legal teams joined LWOW to consider how the profession might develop a more coordinated response to AI and the changes it is bringing to legal practice, particularly the training of new lawyers.

Stuart Kelly, deputy head of Strathclyde Law School, said: “Bringing different voices around the same table is one of the most effective ways to tackle the questions facing our profession.

“Law firms, in-house teams and universities each see different parts of the picture, and conversations like last week’s round-table are where shared solutions start to take shape.

“That spirit of collaboration is at the heart of LWOW, and hosting the programme gives Strathclyde Law School an exciting opportunity to bring international stakeholders together in Scotland. We are looking forward to welcoming them next year.”
