Addleshaw Goddard has announced the promotion of Ryan Openshaw to partner as part of the firm’s 2026 round of promotions.

Mr Openshaw, a lawyer in the firm’s commercial disputes team who is based in the firm’s Aberdeen office at Prime Four Business Park, is part of a 17-strong cohort promoted across Addleshaw Goddard’s offices, up from 15 in 2025.

He has more than a decade of experience practising in Aberdeen, dealing with complex commercial and contractual disputes with a particular focus on energy, shipping and corporate disputes. He has notable experience dealing with cross-border and multi-jurisdictional matters.

Alan Shanks, head of Scotland at Addleshaw Goddard, said: “Ryan’s promotion is a strong endorsement of his contribution and of the depth of disputes expertise we have built in Aberdeen. With more than a decade advising on complex commercial and contractual disputes he is very well placed to support clients operating at the heart of a highly international market.

“Energy remains central to Aberdeen’s economy and the city continues to act as an important nexus between the UK, the Nordics, the Middle East and wider international markets. Aberdeen is a great place from which to advise on cross‑border and multi‑jurisdictional matters, and Ryan’s promotion underlines our long‑term commitment to investing in talent that can help clients navigate both the legacy energy sector and the opportunities that lie ahead.”
