Jones Whyte, named Firm of the Year (250+) at the 2026 Scottish Legal Awards, has announced eight promotions across its legal teams, with its private client department leading the way.
The firm, which employs more than 300 people across its Glasgow and Edinburgh offices, has promoted team members in private client, family law, dispute resolution, conveyancing and clinical negligence.
Four of the promotions are within private client, which supports families with bereavement, estate administration and trust management. Nikki Bonini has been promoted to associate solicitor and Erin Macdonald to senior solicitor, both within the bereavement team.
Sarah Dooey (trust management) and Laura Simpson (trust management) have both been promoted to senior paralegal, capping a year of external recognition for both. Sarah was highly commended for Paralegal of the Year at the Scottish Legal Awards, and both are shortlisted for Paralegal of the Year at the upcoming Herald Law Awards of Scotland.
In family law, Steve Bain has been promoted to senior associate.
Elsewhere, Niamh Finnigan becomes senior solicitor in the firm’s dispute resolution team. Simon Donaldson has been promoted to associate solicitor in conveyancing. Rachel Carmichael becomes senior paralegal in clinical negligence.
Tracey MacLennan people director, said: “This round shows what progression at Jones Whyte looks like in practice. Three of our paralegals have stepped up to senior paralegal, alongside promotions at solicitor, associate and senior associate level, and every one of them has been earned.
“It’s been a fantastic year for the firm, and seeing people like Sarah and Laura recognised both internally and by the wider profession shows the quality of talent we’re developing here.
“We’ve spent the past year reshaping how we support our people’s development, and we want talented people to see a clear route to building their career here.”
