MJC LAW, in partnership with the Faculty of Procurators in Paisley, held the inaugural Paisley Legal Walk on 23 September in support of the Access to Justice Foundation.

The walk brought together legal professionals, retired practitioners, law students, local dignitaries, and members of the Paisley community for a walking tour.

The evening began with a welcome from Sheriff Mohan at Paisley Sheriff Court and concluded with hospitality at The Old Swan, hosted by Jacqueline McCaig. The walk raised £420, exceeding its initial target of £300.

Sheriff Mohan said: “I was delighted to support the inaugural Paisley Legal Walk this year. The event was well organised and attracted a healthy number of participants (and a dog). Professional tour guides took us on a route around the town centre and concentrated on some of its many listed buildings to illustrate Paisley’s rich industrial and legal heritage.

“The world-famous ‘snail in a bottle’ case (Donoghue v Stevenson) started in a Paisley café; the site of that, and the different memorials to the litigation were explained by the entertaining guides. The whole event was a great success.”
