Legal walkers to enjoy Glasgow landmarks next week

Participants on this year’s Glasgow Legal Walk will be treated to an address by Sheriff Principal Aisha Anwar on the steps of Glasgow Sheriff Court prior to setting off on their tour through the city.

Lead walker Austin Lafferty will provide walkers with insightful stories of Glasgow’s legal landmarks and history as they make their way through the city centre.

On the walk, people can expect to network with fellow legal professionals while learning more about Glasgow’s legal history. The walk will culminate in a warm welcome inside the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow itself with a post-walk reception awaiting participants inside the Faculty Hall. Just a few of the landmarks which walkers will see include the Glasgow High Court of Justiciary, the former city mortuary at Saltmarket, the McLennan Arch at Glasgow Green and the Mercat Cross.

The walk is one of six Scottish Legal Walks taking place this year, coordinated by the Access Justice Foundation. The event encourages members and supporters of the legal community to walk to raise money for much-needed local advice centres.

RFPG CEO, John McKenzie, said: “The Glasgow Legal Walk is a fantastic opportunity for our legal community to come together in support of access to justice. It is also a chance to celebrate Glasgow’s rich legal heritage, strengthen professional connections, and enjoy a meaningful evening together. The Royal Faculty of Procurators is proud to support the Walk and looks forward to welcoming participants back to the Faculty for a well-earned reception at the finish.”
