Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games has appointed CMS as its legal partner.
The Games, which take place 23 July to 2 August 2026, will bring together 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories to compete across 10 sports and six Para sports, with more than 200 medals to be won in 51 medal sessions.
CMS will act as the Games’ official and sole legal partner advising the organising company on all operational contracts and legal work to operate, host and maximise commercial opportunities for the city of Glasgow for the global games.
As part of the new Games delivery model, which will provide a replicable framework for future hosts across the Commonwealth, two CMS lawyers, Scott Moir and Angus Niven, have taken a role within the organising company to maximise efficiency. The firm has also supported the launch of the Glasgow 2026 official mascot, Finnie, via CMS’s trademark team.
Alan Nelson, acting managing director of CMS Scotland, said: “The 2026 Commonwealth Games will be the highest profile event in Scotland next summer and will offer huge potential to deliver positive change and a long-lasting legacy for the city of Glasgow. CMS is honoured to be part of this event where we will support the Organising Company in delivering a successful and impacting Games.”
