Gilson Gray raises £121,000 for children's charities at star-studded event

Gilson Gray has hosted its annual Grace Charity Gala, raising £121,000, proceeds of which will go to Edinburgh and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charities.

Guests from Scotland’s business community were transported to the golden age of Hollywood at the Prestonfield House event, which included a tribute Marilyn Monroe artist and surprise appearances from Ewan McGregor and Denis Lawson.

Now in its sixth year, the gala raised vital funds for two of the nation’s most respected children’s charities, with generous support from businesses across the country.

The night included both silent and live auctions with spectacular lot donations including art from Scottish artist Leon Morrocco, donated by The Open Eye Gallery, an Ondine private home dining experience, a private box at the OVO Hydro for 12 to see Kasabian, Whisky tasting with Charlie McLean and training with two of the Edinburgh Rugby team. Guests could also bid on the Ultimate St Andrews Square experience with a personal shopping experience at Harvey Nichols, dinner at Gaucho and a luxury stay at The Edinburgh Grand.

There was also a chance for guests to ‘crack the safe’ where they were in the running to win an 18ct white gold Signature diamond pendant, donated by Edinburgh luxury jewellers Hamilton and Inches. The winner on the night decided to re-enter the prize to auction, raising additional funds for the charity partners.

Glen Gilson, managing partner and group chairman at Gilson Gray, said: “After a two year hiatus, it was a privilege to once again bring together our team, clients, and the wider business community to support the tremendous work of both Edinburgh and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charities. It is our ambition as a firm to put people at the heart of everything we do, and we are proud that we are able to help raise vital funds for two charities that have positively impacted the lives of so many in our community.

“We are very grateful to all those who bought tables, donated generous prizes, and helped make this event such a success.”

Roslyn Neely, chief executive at Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “It is thanks to the generosity of supporters like Gilson Gray that we can continue to help seriously ill babies, children and young people across the East of Scotland.

“Our aim is to reach every child and young person to ensure they receive the very best care and support from the moment they begin their healthcare journey. The incredible amount raised at the Grace Gala will make a real difference to helping us do just that.

“On behalf of the whole Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity team, a huge, heartfelt thank you to Gilson Gray for its phenomenal fundraising efforts.”

Kirsten Watson, CEO of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “The difference that Gilson Gray has made to children in hospitals across Scotland in recent years cannot be understated. The sixth Grace Gala was as spectacular as ever, and we are honoured to once again benefit from the generosity of each and every guest. It fills our hearts to know that despite the cost of living crisis, support for our children’s hospitals remains resolute.

“The vital funds raised at the Grace Gala will be invested in life-changing projects and services at Scotland’s busiest children’s hospital, and I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to everyone who gave so generously at this very special event.”
