International law firm DAC Beachcroft has welcomed Glasgow lawyers Alan Eadie and Lynne Cardow to its professional indemnity team as partners.

Mr Eadie and Ms Cardow both join DACB from BTO Solicitors and bring with them a senior associate and solicitor.

Mr Eadie, who has over 25 years’ experience in professional indemnity work, previously headed BTO’s property and professional liability business unit.

Ms Cardow is an accredited specialist in professional negligence and has practiced exclusively in this area for over 12 years and became a partner at BTO in 2019.

Together they specialise in handling professional liability claims for a broad range of professionals including accountants, financial advisers, educational professionals and institutions, and construction professionals, for a number of large insurer clients.

They also act on behalf of solicitors under the Law Society of Scotland’s professional indemnity insurance scheme, also known as the master policy scheme.

Suzanne Wharton, the partner who heads up DACB’s professional and commercial risks team across Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Scotland, said: “We are delighted to welcome two people of Alan and Lynne’s calibre to our team.

“Their expertise in the professional indemnity market adds real depth to our offering as we continue to strengthen our Scottish capability even further, in line with growing client demand.”

Partner Jilly Petrie, who leads the professional indemnity team in Scotland, added: “It is great to have Alan, Lynne and their team on board. They have an excellent reputation in the market and they complete our expertise across the full range of professions.

“It continues to be an exciting time for the team which has seen significant growth over the last 18 months to meet client demand. I am looking forward to working with Alan and Lynne as we continue to establish ourselves as our clients’ firm of choice in Scotland.”

John Maillie, DACB’s location head for Scotland, said: “Alan and Lynne are fantastic additions to our growing team of talented Scottish lawyers.

“These are important hires as we continue our ongoing drive to be the global insurance industry’s preferred legal adviser, with a presence in key insurance markets combined with a strong regional UK presence, to enable us to deliver against the evolving needs of our clients.”

In September 2023, DACB Scotland also announced the appointment of commercial and construction disputes specialist Alistair Dean. Mr Dean joined the firm’s national professional and commercial risks team as a partner from Anderson Strathern.
