Burges Salmon has advised longstanding client Oxygen Conservation on its acquisition of the Kinrara Estate from craft brewer BrewDog.
Spanning nearly 10,000 acres within the Cairngorms National Park, the site marks a significant milestone in Oxygen Conservation’s mission to Scale Conservation, expanding its UK portfolio to over 50,000 acres under management.
Burges Salmon has been working with Oxygen Conservation since it was founded in 2021 and has acted on all 13 of its land acquisitions stretching from the moors of Devon to the glens of the Scottish Highlands. The latest Kinrara deal was led by partner Ross Simpson, supported by senior associate Sarah Stewart and associate Darren Thomson from the firm’s real estate and estates and land teams. Tax advice was provided by associate Claire Withers.
Ross Simpson, partner at Burges Salmon, said: “We’re proud to work with Oxygen Conservation and together champion its vision to redefine what it means to do conservation and highlight the huge opportunities rural land present.
“The UK is leading by example when it comes to natural capital and it’s a very exciting time to be part of this growing market and to see land as an opportunity to solve the challenges we face around biodiversity collapse and climate change.”
