Solicitor / Associate – Large Loss & Catastrophic Injury

Keoghs Scotland is expanding its Large Loss and Catastrophic Injury team and is seeking ambitious Solicitors (NQ–Associate level) to join our growing practice.

This is a high-impact opportunity to handle complex, high-value personal injury litigation, including catastrophic injury and large loss claims exceeding £1m. You will work alongside experienced lead lawyers on some of the most challenging and rewarding cases in the market, while also managing your own caseload.

We are ideally looking for candidates with 1–3 years’ PQE; however, we are open to Newly Qualified Solicitors and those with more senior experience at Associate level.

This role offers genuine long-term career progression within a nationally recognised insurance litigation practice.

The Role

You will manage and support large loss and catastrophic injury claims from instruction through to resolution, addressing liability, quantum and indemnity issues throughout the claim lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a caseload of high-value and catastrophic injury claims (including £1m+ matters)
• Supporting Partners and lead lawyers on complex cases
• Forensic analysis of liability, causation and quantum
• Drafting pleadings, court documents and detailed technical advice
• Reviewing and analysing complex medical and expert evidence
• Preparing witness statements and instructing counsel and experts
• Attending client meetings, mediations, joint settlement meetings and site visits
• Building strong relationships with insurer clients and key stakeholders
• Maintaining accurate case management and time recording
• Contributing to business development initiatives (articles, blogs, presentations and events)
• Mentoring junior colleagues (where appropriate)
Depending on level, you may manage up to 45 large loss files with appropriate supervision and support.

About You

• Qualified Solicitor (Scotland preferred)
• Experience in personal injury litigation (defender motor desirable)
• Sheriff Court and/or Court of Session experience advantageous
• Strong analytical, forensic and advocacy skills
• Confident advising insurer clients on strategy
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Ability to prioritise and perform under pressure
• Team-oriented with strong attention to detail
