Rural Property Solicitor (NQ to 3 years' PQE)

Harper Macleod has an exciting opening for a property solicitor.

The successful candidate will work in our rural land team, specialising in rural property transactions, advising rural landowners, tenants and others across a broad range of work, including crofting, land and estates, farms and agriculture, forestry and other rural property matters. The team is particularly known for its work on crofting law. We are at the forefront of both Natural Capital and Land Reform in Scotland advising on net-zero projects as well as on a range of community land projects.

The successful candidate will join a leading independent Scottish law firm with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, Elgin, Lerwick and Thurso. You will work closely with a ‘tenacious, accurate, and experienced’ team (Legal 500) of market-leading experts and Law Society of Scotland accredited specialists. You’ll deliver advice to and results for a wide range of public and private sector clients including Scotland’s biggest landowner and other leading rural sector bodies. You will work closely with colleagues in our market leading Renewable Energy, Banking & Finance and Private Client teams.

You must have good communication skills and a desire to develop professionally within a collegiate environment. Experience in rural property is not essential, and the successful candidate will provide transactional and advisory support across a range of matters working with Partner Calum MacLeod, an Accredited Specialist in Crofting Law.

The role would be based in our Inverness office (though consideration would be given to working from our Elgin office).

You will gain exposure to complex transactions in a rural context and have the chance to contribute to the continued growth of an exciting practice area.
