TLT has appointed commercial real estate and investment expert Colin Brown as partner in its Edinburgh office.

Mr Brown joins TLT from Burness Paull, where he specialised in advising institutional investors on the acquisition, disposal, leasing and development of commercial properties including shopping centres, hotels, retail parks, office buildings and development sites. He has also acted for a number of agricultural clients in the disposal and acquisition of farms and advises regularly on all aspects of agricultural law. In Scotland, he has also undertaken crofting work.

John-Paul Sheridan, partner and head of location in Scotland, said: “Colin’s appointment is a statement of our ambition to grow our presence in Edinburgh, with much more on the horizon for 2025. Colin has a proven track-record as a respected adviser to institutional investors in commercial real estate transactions and is an excellent addition to our team. He will play an important role in supporting our clients in Scotland with their commercial real estate requirements and we’re delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Mr Brown added: “As clients in the investment and commercial real estate spaces continue to grapple with new and emerging trends, such as retail space diversification and the rise of green building practices, they are increasingly requiring specialised legal support, both in Scotland and beyond. Additionally, we are seeing more clients requiring support across jurisdictions, with deals taking place with parties in both Scotland and the rest of the UK.

“TLT is well-known within the Scottish real estate sector, and it is a pleasure to be joining such a strong team at such an important moment for the firm’s clients. It is also exciting to be part of the firm’s growth plans and expansion strategy in the Scottish market.”
