TLT appoints third new Scotland partner in four months
Amanda Cooke
National law firm TLT has strengthened its Scottish pensions offering with appointment of Edinburgh-based partner Amanda Cooke – the third new partner to join the firm in Scotland since July.
Ms Cooke brings 20 years’ experience across private practice and in-house and is recognised in particular for her expertise in defined contribution (DC) pensions. She holds a PhD in Pensions, Auto enrolment and Behavioural Finance from the University of Edinburgh Law School and her practice spans advising on large scale, complex schemes, including as part of commercial restructures; decumulation products; workplace pensions; investments and auto-enrolment.
Ms Cooke chairs the Financial Services Regulation Committee of the Society of Pension Professionals (SPP) and is a member of the Scotland Committee of the SPP and the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) in Scotland.
Aligned with TLT’s values driven strategy, Ms Cooke is an active EDI and ESG advocate, previously chairing the ESG Focus group and Edinburgh Women’s network at her previous firm, in addition to her charity work.
Her arrival follows other recent arrivals including; digital partner Caroline Churchill in Edinburgh; employment partner Scott Milligan in Glasgow; corporate lawyer Adam Howie as legal director; financial regulatory disputes specialist Jordan Gray as managing associate and corporate associate Manahil Qadir in Edinburgh.
Since 2025, the firm has also promoted three lawyers to partner in Glasgow across its investment and asset management and projects, infrastructure and construction teams; expanded its Glasgow office after increasing headcount by 50 per cent; and doubled its Edinburgh office footprint by relocating to new premises in New Clarendon.
John Paul Sheridan, head of location for Scotland at TLT, said: “Amanda’s appointment reflects our continued commitment to investing in Scotland, following the arrivals of Scott, Caroline, Jordan and Adam in recent months.
“Scotland remains an important strategic market for TLT and Amanda’s arrival further strengthens the depth of expertise we offer clients across the financial services sector. Her reputation, experience and connections within the Scottish pensions community make her an excellent addition to our team.”
Ms Cooke added: “TLT has built an impressive national pensions practice and has a clear growth strategy in areas closely aligned to my own experience and values. I am excited to bring my experience of the Scottish market to support businesses to navigate changing market conditions and unlock growth, achieving their ambitions while contributing to the firm’s continued success.
“TLT has clear ambitions for growth in Scotland, and I am delighted to be joining at such an exciting time. The firm’s continued investment in Edinburgh, combined with its strong national platform, creates a compelling proposition for clients, and I look forward to helping further strengthen its presence and reputation in the Scottish pensions market.”
