Terra Firma and SOLAR to Host Common Good Conference

Terra Firma Chambers in conjunction with SOLAR (The Society of Local Authority Lawyers & Administrators in Scotland) will host a Common Good Conference at The Mackenzie Building, Old Assembly Close on Monday 29 September 2025.

The event will be chaired by Terra Firma’s stable director, Alasdair Burnet KC and will feature talks by fellow TFC members Mark Lazarowicz, Francesca Glendinning and Scott Blair. Mark and Francesca will present a guide to the basics of common good law while Scott will provide a case law update and consider the practical implications.

Andrew Ferguson, principal of Andrew Ferguson Consults will consider questions arising from common good in practice while Rob McIntosh of Aberdeenshire Council will look at the operation of common good and the practical experience of community consultation from a local government perspective. 

Delegates will have the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion and Q&A sessions after each talk and following the conclusion of the conference programme.

Registration will commence at 1.45pm with the conference programme starting at 2pm. The event will conclude with drinks and canapés from 5pm.

The seminar has been accredited by the Faculty of Advocates as contributing 2 hours 45 minutes of CPD for its own members and is eligible for a similar award from the Law Society for the solicitor branch of the profession.
