Thorntons has grown its wills, trusts and succession, commercial real estate and residential property teams with a number of new appointments in Dundee, Forfar, St Andrews and Perth.

Six new solicitors were brought on board in January and February, in response to a strong growth in demand for services.

The Dundee office has added to its headcount with the appointments of Millie Griffiths as a solicitor in the wills, trusts and succession team and Zeenat Reid as a solicitor in the commercial real estate team. Ms Reid will work alongside the team to advise on a mix of commercial real estate matters including purchases, sales, and security work.

Aimee Young joins the wills, trusts and succession team in the Forfar office, where she will continue her studies to complete the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Diploma, having passed two modules with distinction so far.

The St Andrews office is welcoming Lauren McIntosh who joins as a solicitor in the wills, trusts and succession team, where she will assist clients drafting wills, power of attorneys and dealing with executries. James Martin joins the growing residential property team as an associate, bringing with him extensive experience in both the English and Scottish residential property markets.

Mr Martin said: “Thorntons has an excellent reputation for client service, colleague retention and career development – values which closely align with my own. So far, I have been highly impressed by the caliber of solicitors and partners who are experts in their respective fields, and the firm’s commitment to supporting their people and local communities.

“Having started my career at a firm based in Fife, I’m looking forward to bringing all that I’ve learned back to a property market I have a lot of experience within.”

Elsewhere, Claudine Tumangan has joined the Glasgow team, as a solicitor in the intellectual property team. She will work alongside the team there to advise on a range of matters including risk management, confidentiality agreements and international transfers of data.

Colin Graham, Thorntons chair, said: “The development of our east coast offices is a real source of pride of us – signaling our growth ambitions for the region – and we are delighted with these new appointments.

“The new generation of lawyers coming through the firm are extremely capable, hardworking, and most importantly, share the same values as those who have gone before them. I am very confident they will quickly play their part in providing our growing roster of clients with the benefit of their specialist knowledge and sectoral expertise.”
