Seminar: A New Frontier for Public Law: AI and Algorithmic Decision Making

The Scottish Public Law Group is hosting a seminar on “A New Frontier for Public Law: AI and Algorithmic Decision Making”.

This hybrid event will take place both online and in person in the Court Senate Room (CL205), Collins Building, 22 Richmond Street, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow on Thursday 23 November at 5.30pm.

The seminar is free of charge and will be eligible for 1.5 hours of CPD.

Attendees will hear from:

  • Dr Birgit Schippers, lecturer, University of Strathclyde and author of ‘Artificial Intelligence and Democratic Politics’
  • Laura Irvine, partner, Davidson Chalmers Stewart and convener of the Privacy Law Sub-Committee of the Law Society of Scotland
  • Dr Adam Harkens, lecturer, University of Strathclyde and co-author of ‘How do ‘technical’ design-choices made when building algorithmic decision-making tools for criminal justice authorities create constitutional dangers?’
  • Doors open at 5.15pm for in-person delegates. The talks will start at 5.30pm and will conclude at 7pm, followed by a drinks reception
