Offshore wind health and safety challenges

A new blog by Mabel Omolola Demokun for the Aberdeen University Centre for Energy Law examines the health and safety challenges posed by the rapid expansion of the offshore wind industry.

The article considers issues raised at a May workshop funded by the National Decommissioning Centre, including the classification of offshore wind as a high-risk industry, the adequacy of the current regulatory framework, safety culture and worker participation.

It brings together perspectives from academics, industry, regulators and trade unions, with comparisons between the UK and Norway and lessons from the oil and gas sector.
