New video explains why age verification is needed to protect children from health risks posed by porn

A new video explains why an age verification system is needed in law “just as with alcohol, cigarettes and gambling” to protect children from the serious health risks posed by pornography.

It was intended that age verification checks would become active in the UK in April after a law enabling them was passed but the plans were ultimately put on hold.

The evidence for the compulsive and addictive nature of some of today’s internet products has resulted in the World Health Organization adopting new disorders in its recent eleventh revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11).

The animation, produced by a consortium of organisations, takes viewers through some of the health and social reasons why age verification for pornography promotes wellbeing and future relationship health.
