GCU law graduate Zoe Bolton wins Alison Britton prize

Zoe Bolton
A law graduate from Glasgow Caledonian University has become the first recipient of an academic award in memory of the late Professor Alison Britton.
Zoe Bolton received The Alison Britton Prize for Advanced Healthcare Law and Ethics after being chosen as the best final-year undergraduate medical law student.
Professor Britton, who passed away last year, was loved by her students and was a “wonderful ambassador for the university”. Her work had a profound impact on patient care and medical standards.
As professor of healthcare and medical law, she carried out consultancy work for the World Health Organization, the British Medical Association, the General Medical Council and the Scottish government during her distinguished career.
Ms Bolton, a legal assistant and future trainee solicitor at Mackintosh & Wylie, said: “I’m deeply honoured to be the first recipient of the Alison Britton Prize. Alison’s contributions to healthcare and medical law were truly significant. She wasn’t just an expert in her field but a great teacher who was dedicated to her students, inspiring all of us who were lucky enough to learn from her.
“I feel truly fortunate to have had the chance to be taught by her and I hope her legacy lives on through this prize, through the University, and in all of us who carry forward the lessons she shared.”
