Jane Margaret MacLeod appointed Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Argyll and Bute

The Queen has appointed Jane Margaret MacLeod of Jane Macleod Solicitors as Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Argyll and Bute in succession to Patrick Stewart CVO MBE, who is due to retire on 25 July.

Mrs MacLeod currently holds the office of Vice Lord-Lieutenant and is a leading member of the local business community.

Lord-lieutenants are the monarch’s representatives in their respective lieutenancies. Some of their many responsibilities include arranging visits of members of the royal family and escorting royal visitors, presenting medals and awards on behalf of the sovereign, and advising on honours’ nominations.
