Glasgow University lecture to explore racial justice and law
Kehinde Adeogun, director of legal services and policy at the Black Equity Organisation (BEO), is to discuss strategic litigation and racial justice in a lecture at the University of Glasgow next month.
Her lecture, entitled On Racial Justice and the Law: In Conversation with Kehinde Adeogun, will take place on Thursday 5 November from 1800 to 1915 at the university’s Sir Charles Wilson Lecture Theatre.
Ms Adeogun will be in conversation with Jen Ang, professor in practice at the GO Justice Centre at the University of Glasgow School of Law.
She will discuss BEO’s work on legal challenges, including its challenge to the Ministry of Justice’s tagging programme for ex-offenders and a case concerning the permanent exclusion from education of a boy who had been exploited into a county lines gang. The lecture will also examine the work involved in bringing legal claims, acting as an intervenor and providing witness evidence in litigation.
The event marks the 25th anniversary of Pro Bono Week UK and will consider how pro bono initiatives, from university law clinics to partnerships with private law firms, contribute to access to justice.
