Relationship support charity, Relationships Scotland, has announced the appointment of Ewan Malcolm as its new chair.

Mr Malcolm, who takes over from Dianne Millen, brings four decades of experience as an accomplished CEO, chair, mediator, and conflict resolution specialist, spanning law, organisational leadership, and professional development. A former equity partner in a leading law firm, he has since held multiple senior executive roles, including chief executive officer of The Relationships Service (formerly Relate London North West, Hertfordshire Mid Thames and Buckinghamshire), where he guided the charity through major organisational change. Between 2002 and 2009, he set up the Scottish Mediation Network as its first director.

Welcoming him into the post, Ms Millen said: “It has been a privilege to lead Relationships Scotland over the last two years, and I’m delighted to welcome Ewan into the post. His wealth of experience and commitment to the sector make him the ideal person to lead the charity into the next chapter.”

Mr Malcolm added: “I am honoured to be taking on the role of Chair of Relationships Scotland at such an important time for the organisation. Our Relationships Scotland Network plays a vital role in supporting individuals, couples and families across the country, and I am deeply committed to ensuring that this work continues to have a positive and lasting impact.

“I look forward to working closely with the Board, the staff team and our member services to build on the organisation’s strong foundations and to support its strategic priorities in the years ahead.”

CEO of Relationships Scotland, Stuart Valentine said: “I am very pleased to welcome Ewan Malcolm as our new Chair. Ewan is a skilled coach, mentor and facilitator, who is known for his collaborative approach, and commitment to ethical, reflective leadership that supports people and organisations to thrive, and I look forward to working with him in the future.

“On behalf of the board and management team at Relationships Scotland, I would like to thank Dianne for her leadership and guidance over the last two years.”
