Eventus Law has advised the shareholders, Richard Nixon and Eric O’Donnell, on their exit from Sports Labs, the international sports testing group, following a strategic investment by The King Group, a Scottish family company.
Messrs Nixon and O’Donnell sold their shareholdings in Sports Labs Holdings Limited, Sports Labs BV, Sports Labs IT S.R.L and Sports Labs SAS, completing their exit from the Sports Labs Group. They were advised by Paul Macdonald and Aiden Paterson of boutique corporate law firm Eventus Law.
Founded in Scotland, Sports Labs has developed a leading international reputation in sports laboratory testing, field testing, consultancy and innovation, with an established international footprint spanning the UK, Netherlands, Italy, France and Scandinavia. The King Group said the investment reflects its strategy of backing local businesses with strong growth potential in both domestic and international markets.
The investment will see the existing Sports Labs management team continue to lead the business, with Niall MacPhee taking on the role of group managing director and Keith MacPherson becoming group operations director. Allan and Chris King have joined the Sports Labs board as directors, alongside independent non-executive chairman Ron Robson.
Paul Macdonald, partner at Eventus Law, said: “We were very pleased to advise Richard and Eric on this transaction and to support them through their exit from Sports Labs. This is a business with an impressive international footprint and a strong reputation in its specialist market, and the investment from The King Group provides an excellent platform for the next stage of its growth.”
Mr Nixon said: “Eric and I are extremely proud of what Sports Labs has achieved and of the international business that has been built over the years. We felt that The King Group was the right partner to take the business into its next phase and provide the investment and support required for further growth. Paul and Aiden at Eventus were instrumental in helping us navigate a highly complex transaction.”
