Digby Brown partner raises over £10,000 for charity with London Marathon run

Digby Brown partner Innes Laing has raised over £10,000 for a Fife-based childhood cancer charity by running in the 2025 London Marathon.

Mr Laing, a partner in the firm’s Kirkcaldy office, had previously applied to take part in the marathon but had never before been admitted.

He was inspired to raise money for the Kirkcaldy office’s local charity partner, LoveOliver, and donned his running shoes to undertake a gruelling training regime in the lead up to the big event.

He took to the start line on Sunday 27 April – 18 days after his 59th birthday – with his running kit, race bib and a fundraising target of £3,000.

Despite temperatures reaching 22 degrees, he successfully completed the London Marathon, covering the 26.2-mile route in six hours and 24 minutes.

Mr Laing said: “It was an incredible once in a lifetime experience, with huge crowds giving loud backing from the first step to the last.

“I want to say a big thank you to everyone who came to support me on the day and also to everyone who sponsored my fundraising efforts for LoveOliver – a brilliant Fife-based charity who raise funds for childhood cancer research and offer practical support for families going through this.

“I know the money raised will make such a difference.”

With the generosity of family, friends and colleagues, Innes smashed his fundraising target raising £5,150.

This amount will be matched by the firm bringing the total to a whopping £10,300 which will go to the charity.

In a supportive post on social media for Innes’ efforts, LoveOliver wrote: “We are incredibly honoured that Innes had chosen to use his place, and first ever marathon, to raise vital awareness and funds for LoveOliver.

“It really is an honour to be the chosen charity partner of the Kirkcaldy office for a second year, and to have Innes represent the charity at the marathon.”
