Dallas McMillan Solicitors sponsored the inaugural Mennock Pass Stage Race, a two-day showcase of Scottish road racing hosted by Liam White and the Torvelo team.
Held over the weekend and set against the dramatic backdrop of Scotland’s highest village of Wanlockhead, the race featured the iconic Mennock Pass and drew top amateur talent from across the UK.
The General Classification was won by Matti Dobbins by a margin of only three seconds, following a strong and consistent performance across the weekend’s stages and a powerful sprint over the line in the final stage.
The King of the Mountains (KOM) classification was claimed by Elliot Colyer, who excelled on the steep ascents, including the gruelling Leadhills climb on the Mennock Pass.
Sponsorship of the event was led by the Scottish Cycling Foundation, whose support was critical in bringing the race to life. Dallas McMillan sponsored the KOM classification, reflecting the firm’s unwavering commitment to supporting grassroots sport.
Ryan James Macready, head of corporate at Dallas McMillan, took part in the weekend not just as a sponsor, but as a volunteer marshall, and presented the KOM award to Elliot Colyer at the podium ceremony.
“We were delighted to support an event that not only showcased outstanding cycling talent, but also the energy and commitment of the grassroots sporting community,” said Mr Macready.
“It’s events like this that inspire the next generation of athletes and bring people together. Our congratulations to Matti Dobbins on his impressive general classification victory and to Elliot Colyer on his KOM title. Liam White and the Torvelo team deserve enormous credit, and we’re proud to have played a small part in making it happen.”
Liam White, organiser of the event and member of Torvelo Racing, also praised the role of the sponsors in enabling the race to go ahead: “The Mennock Pass Stage Race was a great success – the racing was competitive, the atmosphere was fantastic, and everything ran smoothly thanks to the amazing support we had. The backing of the Scottish Cycling Foundation and Dallas McMillan Solicitors was absolutely key to making the event happen. We’re hugely grateful to both for their support.”
