The Aberdeen office of Balfour and Manson has promoted personal injury solicitor, Diana Mackenzie to associate.

Ms Mackenzie joined the firm’s Aberdeen personal injury team as a legal executive in 2009. She went on to complete the Certificate of Performance in Specialist Paralegal Studies in Reparation Law through CLT/Strathclyde University.

She was thereafter promoted to paralegal becoming accredited through the Law Society of Scotland’s Registered Paralegal Scheme (now the Accreditation Scheme), thanks to her extensive prior experience she successfully obtaining a waiver from the requirement to undertake a year of training.

While working as an accredited paralegal, she undertook the diploma in professional legal practice on a part-time basis, earning a distinction. She began her traineeship with Balfour and Manson Aberdeen shortly afterwards, qualifying as a solicitor in March 2018 and being promoted to senior solicitor in November 2023, and has remained a key member of the Aberdeen personal injury team.

Julie Clark-Spence, who heads up the firm’s Aberdeen office, said: “Diana’s journey is a testament to her tireless work ethic and unwavering commitment to the firm. She is now building a strong niche in obtaining compensation for survivors of sexual violence, domestic & historic abuse cases, while continually investing in her professional and business development.

“I am personally delighted for her. Diana is an exceptional solicitor, and I know she will continue to flourish in her new role as Associate.”
