Anne Boyd has been officially appointed president of the Society of Advocates in Aberdeen.

The Society of Advocates, a long-established professional body for solicitors, academics, and legal professionals across Aberdeen and the North East, plays a key role in supporting the local legal community. The society provides practical support, CPD training, social events, and a legal library to its 247 members, while upholding high professional standards and collegiality among local legal practitioners.

Bruce Craig is taking on the role of vice president and Diana Mackenzie is stepping in as junior vice president.

Ms Boyd brings almost 40 years of experience in residential property law, having joined Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace in 2001 after a career as a partner in Perthshire. Since moving back to Aberdeen, she has been an active member of the society, serving on its management committee and taking part in many of its activities over the years, including representing the society at dinners and receptions, delivering CPD sessions, and joining members at social events from theatre trips to hillwalks and visits to local attractions like the university botanic gardens. Raeburns has a long link with the society, with three former partners having served as president before Ms Boyd.

Ms Boyd said: “I am honoured to take on the role of president at the Society of Advocates. Having been a member of the society for many years, I’m looking forward to supporting our members at every stage in their careers, and I’m especially excited to encourage younger practitioners to get involved.”

Jane MacEachran, outgoing president, added: “Anne has a wealth of experience and a genuine commitment to the profession. I am confident she will bring energy and dedication to the role, ensuring the society remains a supportive community for all its members.”

Heather Stephen, managing partner at Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace, said: “We are proud that Anne has been appointed president of the Society of Advocates. This achievement is testament to her dedication to the profession and her leadership. Raeburns has a long-standing tradition of active involvement and support for the society, and Anne’s appointment reflects both her personal commitment and our firm’s values in action. We look forward to supporting her as she takes on this important role.”
