Andrew Diamond has become managing partner at Lindsays, having been a partner and its head of residential property since 2012.
He succeeds Alasdair Cummings, who has stepped aside after 14 years in the role, during which time Lindsays has completed six mergers and seen annual turnover more than triple to almost £30m.
Mr Diamond’s appointment is one of a number taking effect at the firm today.
He said: “One of our greatest strengths at Lindsays is being able to attract and nurture good, talented people and then giving them opportunities to flourish and further their careers. Our latest promotions and appointments are fantastic examples of that.
“Our people are at the heart of all that we do at Lindsays. I am delighted for everyone that we are taking these next steps together as part of a great team.”
The other appointments include a second promotion in six months which sees Eilidh Robertson become a partner in the rural land and business department, based in Edinburgh.
She is a home-grown success story for Lindsays, having started with the firm as a trainee in 2016. Ms Robertson has climbed the ranks since, with successive promotions from associate to senior associate then director in 2023, 2024 and April this year respectively.
Darren Lightfoot, meanwhile, has been promoted to partner in the commercial property team, also based in Edinburgh. He joined Lindsays as a solicitor in 2017 before becoming a senior associate in 2021 and a director 12 months ago.
Mr Diamond said: “Alasdair has done a tremendous job. I know what it has meant to him over the past 14-and-a-half years. His leadership has shaped our people-first culture and success.
“I am looking forward to continuing the path that we are on. I am excited about what the future holds. Last year was our best ever. This year is going well.
“As a firm, we are in a good place, a healthy place. We have a lot of good lawyers and talented people throughout the firm. We have a strong blend to our offering across all of our offices. There will be opportunities for us to grow further in the years ahead.”
