And finally… sweet deal

Haribo has issued a recall of a batch of its sweets in the Netherlands after several people reported feeling unwell and tests revealed traces of cannabis in the product.
Multiple individuals, including several from one family, became ill after consuming sweets from a 1kg pack of Haribo Happy Cola F!ZZ. The Dutch food safety authority (NVWA) confirmed that cannabis had been found in some samples. A spokesperson said that “dizziness” had been among the reported symptoms.
Three packs were confirmed to be contaminated, but Haribo is recalling the entire stock of the affected product as a precaution.
NVWA said there were bags circulating which “can lead to health complaints”, and warned consumers: “Do not eat the sweets.”
Haribo said it was working with police to “establish the facts around the contamination”, and stressed that the safety of its consumers was its highest priority. The company added that the recall was limited to the Netherlands and that no other markets were affected.
