And finally... peak high

Dog owners have been urged to stay vigilant after a Labrador had to be rescued from Ben Nevis after apparently ingesting discarded cannabis.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team was called after Tokyo, a black Labrador, collapsed halfway up the mountain while walking with owner and dog trainer Christina Bluhme, from Surrey.

Volunteers carried the 25kg dog by stretcher to safety before she was taken to a local vet.

Bluhme said Tokyo became “critically ill”, losing the use of her legs and drifting in and out of consciousness after what vets believe was cannabis left on the trail.
She thanked the rescue team, saying there was “simply no way” she could have got the dog off the mountain alone.

Tokyo remained unconscious for much of the descent but made a full recovery the following day. Bluhme urged fellow dog owners to be aware that discarded drugs and other toxic substances can be found even in remote beauty spots.
