And finally… out of tune

Lawmakers in Thailand have been criticised after it was revealed that the country’s new parliament building includes a karaoke room.

The Sappaya-Sapasathan also features a running track, massage room and golf driving range.

The public reacted with irritation to the news.

One person tweeted: “Is it right for people to pay taxes to feed these people.”

An editorial in the Bangkok Post questioned the necessity of the karaoke room.

“A workplace, especially a high-status one, should exude a sense of seriousness and solemnity — not an entertainment co-working space where office workers sing along in karaoke and dance after work hours,” the newspaper said.
