Edi Rama appeared on stage with “Diella”, the AI chatbot appointed as Albania’s minister of state for artificial intelligence, at the Berlin Global Dialogue on Saturday.

Diella – who is listed on the Albanian government website as a minister alongside real people – has been a great success since her appointment in September, Mr Rama said.

He added: “Diella is pregnant and expecting 83 children, each of whom will be for each member of our parliament and who will serve as an assistant to them.

“They will participate in parliamentary sessions, keep notes on everything, everything that will happen, and will inform and make suggestions to members of parliament regarding their actions.

“These children will have their mother’s knowledge regarding EU legislation and everything else.”

Addressing moderator Ali Asllan, he added: “And something you will like a lot as a Turk, that when you go for coffee – and we have much better coffee than in Germany, as you know…

“If you go for coffee and forget to come back to work, when you come back, this child will say what was said when you were not in the hall.

“[They will say] if your name was mentioned and if you have to counterattack someone who mentioned you for the wrong reasons.”
