And finally… fobbed off

Police have been giving the public strange advice on car thefts.

Officers in Toronto, Canada, told vehicle owners at a community meeting last month that they should make it easier for thieves to access their keys by leaving them near the front door.

TPS Constable Marco Ricciardi said at the meeting: “To prevent the possibility of being attacked in your home, leave your fobs at your front door, because they’re breaking into your home to steal your car. They don’t want anything else.”

Toronto is experiencing a car theft epidemic, amid cuts to the policing budget.

Cops recently launched a campaign to protest the cuts by telling criminals exactly how much time they would have to carry out their crimes before police would show up.
