Trainee Employment Solicitor

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Employment Solicitor to join our Legal team in Glasgow

Purpose of the Role

WorkNest is seeking to recruit a Trainee Employment Solicitor to join our Employment Law team in September 2026, based in our Glasgow office with occasional travel between offices. We offer a supportive, collegiate environment that encourages professional growth and development, alongside a healthy work-life balance and a genuinely modern approach to legal practice.

Working with a diverse range of clients across the UK, you will advise on matters ranging from straightforward employment queries to complex, high-value cases, with a high level of autonomy and client contact. There may also be opportunities to represent clients at employment tribunal hearings nationwide. The role is offered on a two-year fixed-term contract, with the potential for a permanent position for those who perform strongly.

Core areas of work and accountabilities

The role involves drafting contracts, handbooks, and a range of client documents using templates and adviser instructions; supporting colleagues with Employment Tribunal case preparation and legal research; and, in due course, providing supervised telephone and email advice to clients on basic employment law queries. The postholder will ensure all client advice is timely, accurate, practical, and commercially focused, while adhering to WorkNest’s requirements and relevant professional standards. They will undertake all required training to meet learning and development needs and support the wider team in delivering high-quality, legally compliant documentation and advice as part of the UK’s leading fixed-fee legal and ER advisory service.

About you

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the various aspects of employment law and will have achieved at least a 2:1 LLB Honours degree (or equivalent). The candidate will also have successfully completed the Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. The candidate should have undertaken some legal work experience: employment law experience is desirable but not essential.
