We are looking for a Solicitor to join us and work as part of the Business Crime and Regulatory team in our Glasgow office, which was awarded the title of Criminal Defence Team of the Year at the Scottish Legal Awards 2024.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a broad range of interesting Business Crime and Regulatory (BCR) cases, as part of a friendly and supportive team. The role has great potential for development and progression as our business continues to grow.
The successful candidate will be working both autonomously and as part of a team and will represent a wide range of corporate clients and individuals in a range of Business Crime and Regulatory matters.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
• Advising and representing clients across a broad spectrum of Business Crime and Regulatory matters, including investigations and prosecutions by bodies such as Police Scotland, Crown Office & Procrator Fiscal Service, HSE, SEPA, DVSA, EHO and Care Inspectorate
• Supporting complex cases involving Fatal Accident Inquiries, Public Inquiries (e.g. Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry, Traffic Commissioner Public Inquiries), Health & Safety prosecutions and regulatory proceedings
• Communicating effectively with clients, courts, counsel, and third parties
• Navigating insurance-funded litigation, including policy coverage and claims handling
• Managing cases and representing clients within criminal courts, inquiries, and regulatory tribunals
• Delivering accurate, timely legal services in line with rradar’s standards and client expectations
• Upholding professional standards and regulatory requirements, including those set by the Law Society of Scotland
• Contributing to continuous professional development and supervising junior team members where appropriate
• Participating in business development activities and internal projects as and when required
Required skills:
The ideal candidate will have general Business Crime and Regulatory expertise and also have/be a:
• Qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with 5+ years PQE in Business Crime and Regulatory law. We are willing to consider candidates with significantly greater experience in general criminal litigation who are looking to specialise in BCR law
• Proven ability to manage a varied caseload independently and collaboratively
• Familiarity with regulatory investigations and criminal proceedings
• Experience in insurance litigation and understanding of policy coverage issues
• Strong communication skills with clients, courts, and third parties
• Proficient in legal tech tools including Word, Outlook, digital dictation, Microsoft Teams and case management systems (Salesforce and NetDocuments preferred)
• Self-motivated team player with sound judgment and initiative
It would also be desirable to have:
• Some insurance litigation experience and understanding of litigation policy related issues.
• Strong commercial awareness and proven track record of business development in the legal sector
• Knowledge and working use of case management and document management systems.
• Experience using AI technology within a law firm setting
