Solicitor – Litigation and Advice

The Council’s in-house Legal Service has an exciting opportunity for a solicitor to join its Litigation and Advice Team.
The workload will be varied, challenging and interesting. You will be supported and encouraged to develop a full range of legal and other skills.
The Litigation and Advice Team provides a variety of general litigation and advisory work associated with supporting the functions of the Council in respect of Planning Law, Employment Law, Social Work Law (including Child Permanence, and Adult and Child Protection), Housing Law and such other areas of work that may involve the Council.
The post is suitable for, and will be of interest to, an enthusiastic and motivated solicitor seeking a position which brings the unique challenges of being an in-house solicitor.
Job Purpose
To represent the Council in all litigation matters and provide legal advice and support to all Committees and Service Units of the Council in order to assist with the promotion, delivery and integration of the key objectives in relation to those identified within the Council’s Governance Services Plan and the Community Plan.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications required:
- LLB in Scots Law or Law Society of Scotland Equivalent
- Diploma in Legal Practice.
- The successful applicant will hold an unrestricted Practising Certificate from the Law Society of Scotland.
Additional Information
Hours of work are 9am-5pm Monday - Thursday & 9am-4pm on a Friday.
The workstyle for this post is Flexible - 50-79% of time is office based.
