Following a period of financial growth, we are now seeking a commercially astute and strategically minded Senior Business Development Executive to help us deepen profitable relationships, expand our market presence, and elevate our brand position with targeted audiences in Scotland and the UK. This is a pivotal role focused on driving strategic growth initiatives across the firm. You will work closely with the partnership and the Head of Business Development and Marketing to drive efforts in key client and referrer relationship management, market research, tender and pitch delivery, and the coordination of accolades and rankings. You will also collaborate with Team Leaders to maintain momentum on BDM plans and coordinate well-considered and targeted audiences to ensure ROI on timely BDM initiatives.
Some of the duties and responsibilities will include:
• Client & Referrer Relationship Management: Develop and implement structured key client and referrer engagement plans, monitor client relationship health, and identify opportunities for improved cross-selling.
• Strategic Market Intelligence: Conduct market, competitor, and client research to inform BD strategy, identify emerging trends, and assist in building actionable insights and client intelligence reports 5 6.
• Accolades & Rankings Strategy: Lead the coordination of legal directories, awards submissions, and industry recognitions, and leverage accolades to support brand positioning.
• Cross-Sector & Service Growth: Support the development and execution of integrated BDM plans, craft compelling responses to tender documents, and facilitate collaboration between teams to unlock new business opportunities.
• BDM Projects: Support and facilitate the BD process elements of change projects, demonstrate progress and benefits of new initiatives, and drive the education and adoption of new ways of working.
The role requires a commercially aware, pro-active, and confident team player with the ability to prioritise a high volume workload to an exceptional standard. The successful applicant will possess strong interpersonal, networking and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships.
We are looking for a candidate with excellent research, analytical, and reporting capabilities. You will have experience of managing legal directory submissions and awards processes and have good project management skills.
You will also have relevant IT (web/desktop publishing/social media/Excel) experience and skills and will be knowledgeable in its application to enhancing BDM strategy.
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have proven experience in a similar BD and/or marketing role within the professional services sector or the legal sector.
The role is full-time role based from our Edinburgh office although consideration will be given to part time and blended working that supports the BDM team and firm. Occasional travel to our other office locations in Scotland may also be required.
