Rural Solicitor
We’ve just celebrated 10 years in business, and we’re looking for a solicitor to join our team and grow with us. If you enjoy direct client contact, autonomous working, and the variety that comes with established high street practice, this could be the role for you.

Hall Baird Solicitors is a small firm with big values. Based in Castle Douglas, we serve clients throughout Scotland with a focus on personal, bespoke service. We’ve built our reputation on long-term client relationships and straightforward, practical advice—and we’re proud of the thriving practice we’ve created.
While we have particular strengths in private client, rural and residential conveyancing, agricultural matters, forestry, and renewable energy projects, we handle the full spectrum of work you’d expect from an established high street practice.
The Role
This is a genuine opportunity to get stuck into a varied and interesting caseload. What makes this role special is the autonomy and direct client contact. You’ll manage your own cases from start to finish, building relationships with clients and making decisions with real responsibility. Of course, support is there when needed, we work as a team, but if you thrive on independence and client-facing work, you’ll love it here.
As we continue to grow, there’s genuine scope to develop your own client base and build on areas that interest you most.
About You
You’re a qualified solicitor—PQE is flexible because we care more about attitude and ability than number of years qualified. You’ll have strong communication skills, the ability to manage your own caseload, and a genuine interest in developing long-term client relationships.
Whether your background is in private client, conveyancing, commercial, rural law, or a mix of everything, we want to hear from you.
