What to expect
Thorntons’ Litigation team has extensive experience across Scotland in a wide variety of disputes and we pride ourselves on delivering the best service and the right results for our clients. Our team in Perth are regularly engaged in a broad range of court work and we are looking for another lawyer to join the team who values a role with a mixed and interesting caseload.
• Provide legal advice and strategic guidance to clients in a broad litigation role whichwill include a range of civil and criminal litigation work and Adults with Incapacity cases.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, negotiations, and high-level advocacy.
• Develop and present compelling arguments in courts, primarily the Sheriff Court but also some Court of Session cases and mediation and arbitration.
• Offering innovative solutions to complex legal issues.
• Negotiate complex settlements, agreements, and resolutions for clients.
• Genuine opportunities for supported career progression and development
• Requirement to work from our Perth office a minimum of 3 days a week.
What we’re looking for
• Experience of appearing in the Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court in relation to criminal cases, civil cases, or both.
• Strong advocacy skills
• Excellent drafting and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Good organisational skills
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a multi locational team.
• Passionate about getting the best outcome for your clients.
• A drive to help develop our Litigation practice in Perth and surrounding areas.
