Land & Property Renewables Lawyer
We are trusted and respected legal and tax planning experts and our approach to providing a personal, discreet and tailored service is key to our success since the firm was established in 1997.
The Firm acts on behalf of individuals, entrepreneurs, landowners and works with charities, philanthropists, and trustees to guide and manage complex legal and financial affairs on their behalf. Our values make our clients feel looked after.
With a close-knit team of around 250 colleagues and 25 Partners across offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, Turcan Connell’s comprehensive service covers everything required for efficient tax, estate and succession planning as well as advice on the many aspects of land and property management and transactional activity. We also handle the complexities of divorce and family law, employment law and dispute resolution advice and provide a range of business law services to our clients.
Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a solicitor with a minimum of two to three years post qualified experience in renewables to join one of our Land & Property teams on a full-time basis. Dual qualified candidates will be considered and may be an advantage, but Scottish qualification is essential.
The role will principally be based in our Edinburgh office although we support a hybrid working approach.
Turcan Connell has been at the forefront of the renewables sector since the late 1990s. Our team advises on a full range of projects, including wind (ranging from large scale windfarms to single turbines), solar, battery storage and hydro (including pumped storage). We also advise on the use of compulsory purchase powers utilised for those projects and their subsequent sale/purchase and refinancing. We primarily advise landowners in relation to renewables projects but do also act for some developers.
In providing advice to clients, you will work with other colleagues in land and property, tax and succession, business law, charity law, family law, employment law and litigation to ensure that fully integrated holistic advice is given to our clients.
As you will become a trusted adviser and sounding board to your clients, you will need to have an interest in people and their affairs and will act with discretion and empathy.
Skills/Qualifications
The successful candidate will have at least two to three years post qualified experience in the Scottish property aspects of renewables projects.
You will be a strong team player, with sound practical property law experience and enthusiasm to develop your technical skills and legal career in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will be self-sufficient, commercially aware and able to handle a wide variety of challenging work with minimum supervision.
Strong organisation and confident communication skills are essential, along with strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills with the ability to work on own initiative.
A high level of discretion and confidentiality is a requirement of this role as you will be exposed to sensitive information.
You will have curiosity and enthusiasm to develop your technical skills and those of your colleagues and progress your career in a collegiate and supportive environment with technical excellence and high-quality loyal clients.
Turcan Connell will provide you with the opportunity to build on your career and realise your ambitions in an environment with an unrivalled reputation, and a commitment to our colleagues as individuals. We invest in the development of our talent and provide outstanding training opportunities within a congenial working environment. We have a very strong team across the Firm, and many of our colleagues have chosen to invest their whole career at the Firm. Through living our Firm’s values, we make you feel looked after throughout your career with us.
