Grade 7 Lawyer

Location: Glasgow
Salary: £58,511 to £65,329
Closing date:Monday 27 July 2026

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) is an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice. It receives over 40,000 applications a year for compensation from victims of crime in Scotland, England & Wales. Financial compensation can never fully redress what victims have suffered, nevertheless what CICA does is an important part of providing justice for victims.

CICA employs around 330 people and is based in Glasgow city centre, with excellent transport links. It has a small, engaged, productive workforce with a real sense of corporate community. The position is based at Buchanan Wharf, 10 Clyde Place, Glasgow, G5 8AQ. CICA currently operates a hybrid working business model, where a typical employee spends 50% of their working time in the office and the remainder at home.

As a Grade 7 Lawyer, you will be part of a small, flexible and professional Legal Team, which provides stakeholders with an excellent service and sound legal advice. You will report directly to the Director of Legal & Policy Services, and you will be a member of CICA’s Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a caseload of judicial review clams and a range of advisory work including advice on the application of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme, data protection, freedom of information and the establishment of trusts. As a senior leader the post holder will also contribute to the overall aims, objectives and performance of CICA’s corporate objectives by providing legal advice that supports the delivery of a compassionate, efficient, trauma-informed service to victims of violent crime.
