The role

We have a great opportunity for an employment lawyer to join the employment team to provide a quality service to clients, in the provision of employment law advice mainly to a SME and charity client base in respect of day to day employment law matters including disciplinaries, grievances, termination, employment contracts and policies and employment issues relating to redundancies, mergers and re-organisations; as well as acting for individuals in respect of advising on settlement agreements, negotiating exits and assisting with grievances and disciplinary matters.

Key tasks:

• Advise employers in respect of the provision of the full range of employment law advice including disciplinaries, grievances, termination, employment contracts and policies and employment issues relating to redundancies, mergers and reorganisations.
• Act for individuals in respect of advising on settlement agreements, negotiating exits and assisting with grievances and disciplinary matters.
• Represent both respondents and claimants in Tribunal. 
• Provide corporate support to our corporate and commercial property teams.
• Training and supervision of less experienced staff.
• Ensure knowledge is up to date in relation to the services available to clients across the Firm as a whole and the various service sectors.
• Promote and support the Firm’s marketing initiatives.
• Develop the Employment side of the business including marketing to existing and future clients.
• Raise both personal and Firm’s profile at networking events.
• Identify opportunities to cross sell services offered by Firm.

Key Requirements/Skills:

• Sound legal knowledge with in depth experience in that area of law and a high level of technical competence
• Ability to develop positive working relationships across the firm and with clients; gain the respect of colleagues.
• Ability to assess clients’ needs and offer practical guidance.
• Act as a positive ambassador for the Firm both internally and externally.
• Ability to work largely unsupervised.
• Ability to meet fee targets and achieve realisation rates.
• Work effectively with other team members and is able to supervise the work of those less qualified.
• Take a proactive approach to matter administration and completes monthly file review process for all matters where marked as fee earner on file.
• Proven networking skills and willingness to develop a client base.

This role will initially be fully office based however, after a period, flexible WFH/hybrid arrangements will be considered.
