Dispute Resolution Solicitors (NQ to 8+ years PQE)

Due to a period of continued growth and significant client wins, we are recruiting up to three solicitors to join Harper Macleod’s highly-acclaimed Dispute Resolution team. We are one of the largest litigation teams in the country and are routinely instructed in some of the highest-profile cases in the Scottish Courts. The team and many of our individual practitioners are consistently recognised by Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500.
From our offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Elgin, Thurso and Lerwick, our highly experienced team deals with a broad range of commercial and other disputes for a mix of private and public sector clients, including high value and complex litigated cases in the Court of Session and Sheriff Court. We also regularly represent clients in appeals to the Supreme Court.
We are looking for solicitors to join our Edinburgh team, though the team advises and represents clients Scotland-wide.
This role will focus mainly on Public Sector litigation, supporting Jennifer Jack and Calum Gee, Partners, who both have recognised expertise in Public and Administrative law. Your work will principally involve advising and representing clients on public and administrative law issues, including advising clients on legislation, statutory interpretation and the powers and duties of public bodies and representing clients in court challenges such as Judicial Review and Appeals and in public inquiries. Experience in these areas of law is preferred but is not essential.
We are recruiting for a number of different posts and welcome applications from solicitors with a broad range of experience, from newly qualified solicitors to those with significantly more experience (8+ PQE).
The successful applicants will be client-focused self-starters, who are organised, with excellent inter-personal and technical skills and an attention to detail. The applicants should be able to work confidently in a fast-moving environment and be able to handle a challenging and varied workload often with tight timescales set by courts. The successful candidates will join a culture that depends upon each team member working effectively and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary group, where support and encouragement is built-in.
